A Reality

We all had an awesome childhood, Filled with lots of fun and a little study. But sadly this is not the story of every child. On the streets of Mungeli we can see this  little boy Umesh selling gupchup and bhel on his hand-cart. At the age of 11 he has to do this work because his uncle is out of town for some days. This shy little boy attends school in the morning and spends his evenings selling these snacks.

It is commendable that he chose the hardwork. And not the options like begging. but does not he deserve a better childhood ? We can not blame his family,  When you do not have money, you have to do everything you can to survive. It is our fault that we are not able to build a society, where little stars like him can shine whithout trouble.

A long series of bands, shining with various colourful lights, playing devotional songs accompanying all the idols of maa durga in the city, altogether was giving a memorable moment to the citizens of mungeli. It was the occation of collective immersion of tableax (Jhanki) and idles of maa durga.

One important aspect of the event was the efforts and arrangements of the police to maintain peace and harmony in the city. When we are busy celebrating our festivals they are on duty. They really do a job without holidays.

(21 oct is celebrated as police commemoration day)

The begining.

Mungeli is not just a city. It has been a playmate of our childhood,  a companion during all our mischieves. A witness of all our smiles and tears. Mungeli is not just a city.

This blog is an small endeavour  to keep the spirit of mungeli unchanged.
